How to Find and Verify Gold Bullion Suppliers
A practical gold bullion sourcing guide for business buyers: purity, bar specifications, refinery credentials, provenance, assay and payment due diligence.
For business buyers, a credible gold bullion offer should establish exactly what is being sold, who legally owns it, where it is held, how it will be assayed and how the transaction can comply with relevant laws. Supplier claims should be verified independently.
Specify the product precisely
Define whether the request is for cast bars, minted bars or another form; weight, fineness, acceptable refineries, serial numbers, packaging, quantity, delivery location and required documentation. Terms such as “24K gold” without a verifiable assay and clear bar specifications are insufficient.
Verify the supplier and ownership
Check legal registration, beneficial ownership when appropriate, trade authorization, export eligibility, contracting authority and the chain of title. Independently contact claimed refiners, vaults, inspectors and logistics providers through verified contact details.
Establish origin and responsible sourcing
Request evidence of origin, lawful export and supply-chain controls. Evaluate anti-money-laundering obligations, sanctions exposure, conflict-mineral risk and the applicable responsible-sourcing framework. High-risk origins require enhanced scrutiny.
Agree on assay and custody
Specify independent assay or verification arrangements, accepted tolerances, insured transport, secure vault or delivery handover and the point at which title and risk transfer. Distinguish photographs of bars from authenticated inventory and legally transferable ownership.
Compare offers beyond headline price
Use the same benchmark date, pricing basis, premiums or discounts, assay costs, insurance, transport, taxes, fees, settlement currency and delivery terms for each offer. Extremely large discounts and advance-fee demands warrant investigation.
